A magnificent tool for conditioning the body. They have been used for hundreds of years and although it is difficult to trace back their true origin; Greeks, Syberians and Scots are amongst those who try to claim ownership. The benefits are hugely extensive, they can almost instantly improve posture, assist with weight loss, body conditioning, muscular strength, flexibility (which is one of the first things to go as we develop in adulthood), bone density, sports performance & cardiovascular fitness to name but a few. Their use can be tailored to almost achieve anything you want and their popularity has been massively boosted. Many sports teams including football, rugby, hockey and even long distance runners are now using and benefiting from them as they work well to reduce injury and serve to maintain a dynamic and athletic conditioned body. One huge aspect which they achieve with great success is activate the glutes. This may not appear to have huge importance or consequence but as the body has become conditioned to regularly sit down, these muscles switch off. This causes other muscles to compensate and greatly increase the risk of injury, namely hamstrings and lower back. Sound familiar? The most important thing is to ensure that you fully know how to use them properly. The very nature of their use is completely different to many other types of exercise and why they are so very highly rated - but done incorrectly could lead to injury. We rate these hugely but when contemplating using them, there are a few musts:
- Train properly with expert guidance
- Ensure the quality of the kettlebell
- Use the correct weight for you
- Train with a programme that is designed for your wants and needs
We offer a range of services with this great tool. As well as it being included within a lot of our training products, we also run 1 to 1 sessions, group sessions and corporate packages. The final word on this magnificent piece of equipment is that kettlebells are brilliant, we are obviously quite passionate about this...but they are not everything! We would encourage everyone to use these, be it elderly, overweight, athletes etc, but use them in conjunction with other methods that can compliment them and know how to use them.
Powerbag Training

Power training has long been known for its amazing results. Caloric expenditure of power, explosive and speed movements is by far and away the greatest of all training types. The biggest problem with power and Olympic lifting is that it requires specialist equipment, specialist training and frankly, flinging around an Olympic bar with huge amounts of weight is not that appealing to the main population. Including the expenditure of calories, this type of training is additionally fantastic for flexibility, injury recovery and improving posture. As strange as it may sound, Olympic lifting as a sport has one of the lowest injury rates of all sports. This is quite surprising considering the weight that is involved. Using a powerbag is much more friendly; a bag filled with sand that can be thrown around and used in a much safer and more explosive fashion. All the benefits of power lifting moves can be achieved and for most, this bag is a much more appealing tool to its more metallic counterpart. Fantastic for core, and a completely different route to achieving great shape.
Boxing Training

Well known as a sport that has some of the fittest competitors across the sporting world. Boxing training is fast, furious, fun, sweaty and incredible for getting rid of tension. You don't have to desire stepping into a ring or be a natural aggressive to benefit from boxing training. As well as burning copious amounts of calories, boxing will make your body more efficient in movement, rapidly improve your core, balance, coordination and concentration as well. Quite often, mentally switching off during exercise can be a common behaviour but boxing training will sharpen your body and mind leaving you much more aware and focussed. Boxing training is best initially done through the 1 to 1 tuition but we also try to incorporate some into the group training.
Event Training

Found an event that you are determined to focus on? Choosing a target for yourself is the best way to identify the route to take but how do you best prepare for that event? Whether it is a 10km road race or an Ironman triathlon, benefit from experienced coaches and ensure that you cross that start line with all the right mental and physical preparation required to achieve your goal.
Performance Enhancement

If you play a sport or enjoy a particular discipline then how do you train for that specific activity? Do you feel that you are performing optimally? Do you train for the right functional movement required to perform that activity? It is a well known saying that the rich get rich and the poor get poorer. This is exactly the same when it comes to exercise, if you train, rich in the knowledge that you are doing it right, you will most certainly improve and make the most of your time. Whilst performing an ill movement can waste valuable time and often cause injury, lead to poor posture and other potential problems.
Endurance Training

Endurance training is a fantastic method that can help benefit overall health and be completely tailored to any physical needs whilst remaining specific to your goals. Traditionally, it has often been seen as something that only distance runners would require, yet we would happy to suggest that almost everyone could benefit from implementing endurance training into their schedule. It is the most effective way to improve the health of your heart and lungs, condition the overall health and function of your bodily systems and most certainly put a spring in your step. The variety of methods that you can use will keep sessions interesting and most importantly, keep you interested.
Corrective

Understanding how your body works is essential and so rarely done prior to immersing yourself into regular or rigorous exercise. Having fantastic alignment, muscular balance, optimal sequencing through muscle action and sound core activation will enable you to enjoy the sports that you love and stay active for life. Avoiding injury and having a strong and solid structure will keep you safe with the peace of mind that you body is fully prepared to withstand the stresses of an energetic and active life. You can look to enjoy functional and corrective patterns in both the group sessions and personal training that will give you the pain free movement and fantastic flexibility that we all are born with.
